In New Jersey John Ray Wilson, suffering from Multiple Sclerosis has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for growing his own marijuana to relieve the symptoms of M.S. Since he was charged New Jersey became the 14th state to legalize marijuana for medical use but it can legally only be obtained from state licensed dispensaries.
At the time Gov. Jon Corzine said he would review his case for clemency after he was sentenced. Since then, however Corzine lost his re-election bid to Chris Christie, a Republican so there will be no clemency.
Instead Wilson will be in prison for the next 5 years at great cost to the state because of his medical needs.
