A couple of days ago famous entertainer and political know-it-all Limbaugh asked why the Mineworkers Union didn't ensure the safety at the Upper Big Branch Mine where 29 miners died a couple of weeks ago.
The answer is simple. The mine is non-union as are almost all 41 mines owned by Massey Energy. When the miners voted for a union three separate times, Don Blankenship the CEO threatened to close the mine and fire all the workers. His stated goal is to use non union miners to drive the price of coal down and to drive all union mines out of business. Profits over safety.
Safety records at union mines are consistently better than at non union mines.
Blankenship should be in jail and Limbaugh remains a complete idiot who can't even get his facts right. Then again, he doesn't care about facts.
