Burning Spear - Free Nelson Mandela
A little late but not in Los Angeles where it is still April 27, Freedom Day in South Africa. One man brought a fractured country together in a way few people imagined. I grew up in a country on segregation on steroids that made the old South in America look look like "Ebony and Ivory". Mandela was big enough and magnanimous enough in victory to win over his sworn enemies to create a new united nation.
Despite some bumps in the road and a society where there is still far too much poverty, corruption and the usual ills that befall most countries, South Africa is, in many ways a model for tolerance and forgiveness.
