Michelle Bachmaann (R – Batshit Crazy) is a walking study in incoherent delusion. Even before Obama had got used to the sheets in the White House she was suggesting the media should investigate whether Obama and the Congressional Democrats are anti-American. Her biggest recent crusade has been against the Census. Every 10 years, as mandated in the constitution, we do our best to count everyone. It’s important that as many get counted because the Census determines the allocation of Congressional seats and the share of government funding such as Medicaid, Education and a host of other programs.
States that lose population might lose a Congressional seat to a state that has gained population. The number of seats remains the same at 435. Here is evidence of Bachmann’s current state of delusion. Even the Fox News host has a problem with her craziness/
She often speaks about “Internment camps” being set up somewhere in the heartland so the connection between 1940s and the current census makes a lot of sense.
Prior to this Census, the people counters have used sampling for low income and minorities who traditionally respond at a lower rate. The Republicans have fought against this for years. The Census Bureau caved in will instead do follow up door-to-door canvassing which could somewhat repress the count. Big win for the Republicans because they would gain by the new methodology. That was until the crazy wingnut branch of the GOP decided that the Census was a Commie plot. As a result, returns in conservative areas are at an all time low.
A few GOP Congressmen took Bachmann aside to explain that her anti-Census crusade wasn’t helping. Here response has been to ratchet up the rhetoric.
In a related case of hypocrisy, Michelle Bachmann as been the recipient of over $250,000 in farm subsidies for her family farm. Government handouts are an evil socialist plot except when she is the recipient.

oh man....and I thought south african politicians were cringeworthy!
When I lived in Minnesota the place was largely represented by DFL liberals or moderate Republicans as best as I can remember. I think it was the only state that Mondale carried in 1984 - (okay he hailed from there).
What has happened to the place?
