Quick hits


  • Rep Joe Barton, famous for apologizing to BP for letting marine life get in the way of the oil spill vows to fight for the 'traditional, incandescent light bulb' against "the little, squiggly, pig-tailed ones."
  • Tea Partiers fight clean water rules designed to prevent bladder cancer.  In a related story, they fight to prevent people with existing conditions like bladder cancer get health insurance.
  • Today is Veteran's Day to remember those who sacrificed their lives in wars justified or not.   Keep this in mind when you do.  The IAVA (Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America) recently rated politicians on their support for veterans affairs.  154 Congressmen received a 'D' or an 'F', 142 of them were Republicans, 94 received an 'A' or an 'A+', 91 of them were Democrats.
  • Over 4,000 troops have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.  There are over 65,000 amputees.  Tens of thousands more have suffered traumatic and debilitating brain imjuries because of the nature of the IED weapons used.  The Pentagon is only now starting to deal with this problem.  War is the absolute last resort.  With Iraq it was a case of finding any escuse to start a war.  In my eyes, that is nothing less than treason,
