First up on the GOP deficit cutting agenda is a program that no longer exists

As noted here a number of times when push came to shove GOP candidates were extremely unwilling or unable to city where they would actually cut the deficit.

Today GOP rep Kevin McCarthy was on the hot seat was a little more specific. and the first program he would cut is the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Contingency Fund. No surprise the first thing they would cut is something to help the needy. Never mind that programs such as Unemployment Insurance and Food Stamps stimulate the economy far quicker and more effectively than a tax cut for the rich would.

But there's another problem with McCarthy's budget axe. The program has already expired so the savings he suggests would save about $0.00. Never mind that the program, while it existed. created 250,000 jobs in 37 states for low income and unemployed workers.

McCarthy did then enumerate other cuts amounting to 0.5% of the budget. That will get the job done,
