I can't get this image out of my mind from 2000

As soon as the Supreme Court stopped the recount in Florida this mock Time magazine cover popped up on the internet.  It was prescient then and it's  more true now than it has ever been.

And then there was this even more prescient piece from The Onion after Bush was inaugurated.
