Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill) might land up heading the Energy and Commerce Committee which deals with environmental issues among other matters. He, like most other Republicans are 'climate deniers'. Not only do they not believe that global warming is a result of human activity, they don't believe it's happening at all despite the last decade producing a string of record breaking average high temperatures world wide.
How do they know this? Wait until the first big snowstorm on the East Coast and they will say in unison something like this, "It's snowing and it's cold so global warming is a myth".
Anyway, we can rest easy with Shimkus in charge. He has a hot line directly to God. Nothing to worry about because God promised in the bible not to destroy the world after Noah's flood.
