Americans support raising taxes on rich by a 2-1 margin: CBS Poll

It all depends on how the polling company asks the question.

CBS worded the question in this way:

Which comes closest to your view of the tax cuts passed in 2001? 1. The tax cuts should be continued for everyone, 2. The tax cuts should only be continued for households earning less than $250,000 a year, or 3. The tax cuts should expire for everyone.

The result was 26% agreed with # 1, 53% agreed with questin # 2 while another 14% felt all tax cuts should expire.

Rasmussen, a notoriously conservative polling company put the question differently:

President Obama and congressional Republican leaders have reached an agreement that extends the Bush tax cuts for all Americans for two more years, cuts the Social Security payroll tax rate for one year and renews long-term unemployment benefits for an additional 13 months. Do you favor or oppose this agreement?

71% agreed. Rasmussen's question intentionally clouded the issue and got the desired result they wanted. CBS laid out the all the options and got the answer that far more accurately represents the opinion of the American people.

In the end, the only opinion that matters is the reality challenged opinion of the politicians on Washington whose opinions are determined by those who give them piles of money so they can keep their jobs.

I believe the politico's in Washington are wearing earphones more often than not these days, which, of course, is why they aren't listening.

There is also that little thing called a "tether" between the Investment Bankers and Washington...
