and following on from the previous post

Rand Paul, the GOP Senate candidate has come up with a unique solution for the state's burgeoning drug problem, particularly with painkillers such as Oxycontin AKA Hillbilly Heroin,

The problem is particularly severe in Appalachian Eastern Kentucky which currently has the highest rate of prescription drug abuse in the country. With soaring unemployment and little hope for anything else the abuse of prescription drugs literally kills their pain.

Paul, however favors cutting federal funding for undercover drug investigations and drug treatment programs that are “badly needed” in his state. While recognizing drugs as a “scourge,” Paul didn’t think Kentucky’s high-profile drug problem was “a real pressing issue.”

Instead he went for #1 in the GOP playbook for the solution. Give the rich more money so they can invest in creating jobs which will....you know the rest.

Their is this myth in Republican circles that the more money the richest among us have, the more jobs they will create because they will take that money and invest it in growing their businesses. In the real world it doesn't happen that way. In the real world businesses hire and expand as demand increases. In Estern Kentucky the only thing in demand is something to kill the pain.

People like Paul just don't get that.
